Bamberg – actually rolf lamprecht should take over the DJK don bosco bamberg in the upcoming landesliga season. But the 69-year-old, who has been around a lot as a coach in upper franconia, was probably too upset by the upheaval that was taking place at the wildensorg club. As the association has now officially confirmed, lamprecht cancelled his contract with the DJK last week.
Due to the advanced time, the bavarian league relegated team had to act quickly and was at least able to announce a new coach quickly. Gerd schimmer, who coached FC strullendorf in the regional league until the second half of the season, will take over the position of training director at DJK.
Head of department rainer schmidt was clear that the upheaval in the team was going to be rough. "As is not unusual in the case of relegation, some players have left the club", schmidt alludes in a press release to the total of eleven departures that the wildensorger had to cope with. The most prominent changes were probably that of christos makrigiannis (to spvgg jahn forchheim), alexander eckert (to vfl frohnlach) and florian ultsch (to SV pettstadt).
In addition, schmidt also tells of internal club squabbles, after which almost no players were available for the national league. These circumstances were probably too much for rolf lamprecht, which schmidt can understand. "Rolf lamprecht is a recognized expert, but under the given circumstances the decision is fully understandable."
Schimmer is confident
In the search for a replacement, djk department head andreas baumgartel then contacted the club in the last week gerd schimmer. At a meeting the situation of the team was discussed. "It was very tricky, but the DJK is a club with a lot of potential. That's why I said yes", schimmer explains his decision in favor of bamberg after only a short period of consideration.
A look at the squad initially made the 43-year-old somewhat apprehensive. "But in the meantime, i have spoken to many players and am confident about the squad.", according to schimmer, who is pleased that top performers such as nicolas wunder and roland kropf or talents such as felix strobler and sebastian fleischmann have stayed on. At the start of training on 20. June a 20-man squad is available, with which one can play along in the national league well.
Schmidt is now also hopeful that DJK will be able to put together a strong squad for the coming season. "Some new recruits have already made their commitment", explains schmidt, who does not want to name any names yet.
